Industries that can best withstand a recession

With many companies, both large and small, having to make budget cuts lately, which oftentimes result in layoffs, people are curious about which industries might be less prone to this type of thing happening at times when the economy is slumping. Whether you are looking for a new job, or perhaps trying to switch into a more stable industry, I’ve come across a couple of articles that I think readers of my blog will find interesting and useful, no matter what career situation you may be in currently.

HR World has compiled a list of 25 industries that are sure to still be booming despite a recession. Since these are whole industries, it could be easier to bring your current skills over to a similar position in a new industry, rather than trying to pursue a completely new career path!

CNN Money also has a list of ten specific jobs that are good to have in the current economic situation, along with salary stats for each and reasons why they will always be in demand. Some of them fit into the categories on the HR World list, yet some do not, showing that there are plenty of career options out there that are quite resilient to tough times.
